Here’s my completed build of the brand-new Tamiya 1/35 KV-2 ready for the next issue of Tamiya Model Magazine.
Model Features…
★This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 204mm, width: 95mm.
★The imposing form of the KV-2 is artfully captured in 1/35 scale.
★Features depictions of the rough cast turret surfaces and also weld lines.
★Various hatches can be assembled in open or closed position.
★Assembly type tracks feature one-piece straight sections, and offer realistic depiction of upper run ‘sag.’
★Comes with a full body commander figure, and a crew torso figure for installation in the hatch.
★Includes two marking options.
Other than a few stowage additions here and there, my kit was entirely built from the box, painted and weathered to look like a well-used machine. There are few areas I may touch-up, but as it stands it’s finished. One area that I am not happy with is the figures, each proving to be a real struggle to paint, especially the standing commander. I am planning to build a diorama around this model, so I will inevitably replace the figures, creating a scene in which the machine has been abandoned, a fat that befell almost every single of of those that hadn’t already been destroyed in combat!
I really enjoyed this kit and I look forward to its appearance in TMMI. I hope you like it too!

SPENCER POLLARD'S KIT BOX 
The KV-2 may be one butt-ugly creepie-crawlie, but that model is superb. Just the right amount of everything to look very “real” when finished.

I’d agree with tcinla that it’s butt-ugly but what a great kit and a terrific paint job. Can’t see the struggle with the figures either, they too look great.

Great paint and weathering on this Spencer – I have archived it as a reference. Weathering is an art and you are the artiste….. Well done! As an aside, eons ago Gen. Rolf Stoves, who contributed immensely to the Panzer Colors books I did, sent me one of his personal photos taken while he was in 1.Panzer Division in Russia, a KV-2 with over a dozen 5cm projectiles sticking out of the turret rear plate – none had penetrated all the way, and several hung half-way out like a cartoon drawing.
