This model was initially planned to be rather more glamorous than it perhaps turned out to be, but now that it is finished I rather like its dishevelled look and think that it will certainly look at home within a setting that I have planned for it!

Although the last couple of weeks have been taken up with some time off to decorate our kitchen and dining room, I’ve managed to finish my latest build for Tamiya Model Magazine International (TMMI), Tamiya’s lovely, 1/24 Lotus Europa.

As with the Honda S600 that I built last year, this one has been painted to replicate a car that is well-loved, but has perhaps seen better days. Weathering, road dirt and the odd, paint chip, all being found on the body of the car. Though I like the look of pristine car models, I’ve never really liked building them that way. Often-times, the resulting model looks attractive, but doesn’t ever fit in with my other builds, especially when dioramas or vignettes are a consideration. This model was initially planned to be rather more glamorous than it perhaps turned out to be, but now that it is finished I rather like its dishevelled look and think that it will certainly look at home within a setting that I have planned for it!
An in-depth look at this model will appear in a future TMMI and will eventually form part of a vignette, but in the meantime, I hope you like my version of this classic and now updated, Tamiya kit.

Absolutely beautiful Spencer! I love both of those cars but you REALLY nailed the appearance of that Lotus.
