ONE MAN’S JUNK 2.0

Wingnut Wings Junkers D.1 finds a new home...

Having shown you some bits and pieces of my new diorama, I thought you would like to see the completed scene! Built around the stunning Wingnut Wings Junkers D.1, my diorama imagines what a factory would have looked like as one of the prototypes was being completed. Within it, you can see the engineers adding the final touches to their new machine as a pilot officer sneaks in to take a look before the aircraft’s maiden flight…

Having looked at the pictures, there are still some ragged edges that need to be touched up, but other than that I think it’s finished – unless of course I choose to add just a few bits of additional clutter and detail…

This then is “One Man’s Junk’ 2.0” – I hope you like it!

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!

I see lots of models that I really like Spencer. I don’t see a whole lot that inspire me. When I start trying to think if I can doing something like this with the 1/72 Roden kit I’ve got, I figure you’ve inspired me. Thanks for that, and for sharing this!

Spencer, Looks super as always. Metal work Tamiya or Alclad? Did you paint the crosses on the surface or are they decals? Again, great work

This is an outstanding work! I love it! I’d be interested to learn how you produced the display base and all the scenery. You really have captured the moment!

That is stunning, Spencer! So complete but not cluttered. Both the Junkers and the place setting compliment each other. The setting could standalone as well as the subject. Bravo.!
