Throughout the week, I will update the site with material that you can all see, but on Friday of each week, there will be a much more involved update that discusses a model being built, news items and a brand-new essay, this being only available to my subscribers.
Having built this site up, I’ve decided that it will be split into sections so that I can offer material that is available to both free-to-view visitors, as well as subscribers who will pay a nominal fee each week, month or year, to access ‘subscription only’ features. In much the same way as Patreon, this will allow visitors the chance to see material that is held back from elsewhere, work that will be uploaded once a week (I’m planning on a Friday morning) on a rolling schedule. Those paywalled updates will be modelling projects that allow me to concentrate on larger builds that can be seen at your leisure and then as they are only available to subscribers, discussed in a more personal way than might be possible on other platforms. None of that work will be seen anywhere else, so it becomes a very exclusive club that we can hopefully enjoy together.
So, the plan is this. Throughout the week, I will update the site with material that you can all see, but on Friday of each week, there will be a much more involved update that discusses a model being built, news items and a brand-new essay, this being only available to my subscribers. Combined, that material will over the course of a month create a mini online magazine that I hope you will look forward to, especially the exclusive material that you can pay to see each week. Each subscriber will then be able to then contact me with specific questions, the email on this page being used (along with the comments box should you wish to broaden the discussion out). I will also be offering as a paid add-on, online face-to face tuition that can be booked in advance. That will allow modellers the chance to talk through their projects and needs for each one via the Internet’s various platforms. Online tuition is not unusual in 2023, so I want to bring that into my world where need arises and modeller’s budgets allow.
As a subscriber, you will also be able to suggest material, maybe even models that you might like me to build. Unlike the deadlined builds for work, the weekly updates will allow projects to be dealt with in far more depth, images on here that you can enlarge and text that you can read at your leisure, allowing everything to be seen clearly and without distraction. It will be perhaps the most flexible way that I can offer work and certainly the most interactive.
As it stands, this is the first step along the path to creating this content, but one that I feel needed to be taken if I wasn’t to spend another six months procrastinating as time slipped inexorably by.
Thanks for reading this. I will have more information for you in due course. In the meantime, I’ll be looking at a start date and a project that I can use to kick everything off.
See you next time.
