MODELLING AN ICON #1: SPITFIRE

BEFORE I BEGIN, PLEASE CAN YOU ENSURE THAT YOU READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING UPDATE, AS IT CONTAINS PLENTY OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Following on from the release of my earlier Spitfire titles, I have now created a detailed guide to the building and painting of the Spitfire Mk.I & V in miniature, that offers plenty of tips, tricks and techniques across a range of different model kits. The book follows on from my very first aircraft modelling title that was released several years ago that many of you will have already bought. If you haven’t, you can download digital copies from the Pocketmags website, via the Pocketmags app on your phone, table and desktop. The link to that page can be found here.

Each chapter of this exciting new book deals with a specific kit of each of the two variants. Within each one, you will find plenty of construction and painting tips, with easy to follow ideas that will help you to build these aircraft from Airfix (Mk.Vb & Mk.Vc), Eduard Mk.I and Tamiya Mk.I (original tool) and Mk.I (new tool), with kits in 1/72 and 1/48. Offered in landscape format, the book will detail six builds, in 1/72 and 1/48 using those Tamiya, Airfix and Eduard base kits, from which the authors take you through their builds, ideas, and techniques step by step.

For more information on the book, please check out the following pages where you will find plenty more information:

Here are the models that will feature, the only missing one being the Eduard kit that is still not quite finished as this update goes live…

BUY YOUR COPY NOW!

Many of you have already reserved copies of this book, so now, with the models complete and content ready to be finalised and sent to the printers, you have the chance to complete your order and buy your copy. Below you will find all of the payment details to go with the earlier information on the book. Should you wish to see once again some of the pages from the book, please visit my earlier Blog entry:

HOW TO PAY FOR YOUR BOOK….

As with previous titles, this one is being created as a strictly limited-run product and as before, the price reflects this. Many of you will already have the other books in your collections so – hopefully – will know what this means in terms of quality and how enjoyable it is to own something that’s rather niche in its approach! Though each one is more expensive than comparable titles, I believe that they are titles that you will enjoy and want to keep as part of your collections. Indeed, as this is #1 in a series, I hope that you will want this first release and then look forward to buying all of them as they are released in due course!

Here you will find payment links should you wish to purchase a copy of this new book.

DETAILS, DETAILS…

When using the Paypal links, PLEASE can you ensure that you leave your full name and postal address so that I can complete my ordering list ready to have the books sent out to you. Often, I see only screen names and no other details, so you must complete the details as accurately as possible. Without all of your information, including you full name and postal address, I can’t track you down and complete the order. Please can you also confirm that you have placed your order and made your payment via email, using the email address seen below. This will allow me to confirm your payment with you and request any additional information should it be required. Because of the way that PayPal reveals information on their site, sometimes I won’t see your address or email, so please be sure to send your address  – without it, I can’t send your book out!

Here is my email address:

spencerpollard1@gmail.com

AND THAT’S IT!

You now need to do nothing else with your order. The books will be printed to the quality that are reserved and paid for and will then be sent out by mid August. All of you having your copies, all being well(!), by the end of that month.

As before, I would really like to thanks you all for taking the time to read this and for supporting my endeavours with these books and my wider modelling. By purchasing one of these books, either printed or digitally, you are helping to keep the lights on and allowing me to continue with projects that I know that you all enjoy seeing.

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!
