1:72 Airfix Kit Review And Build RAF Aircraft

RAF RADIALS – A NEW MODELLING GUIDE, READY TO FLY!

Pegasus, and Hercules power; Airfix miniatures; one concise modelling guide. Get yours whilst you can!

We have all glamourised Merlin powered machines such as the Spitfire, Mosquito and Lancaster, but perhaps not paid quite as much attention to their unsung partners powered not by that famous powerplant, but ones such as the Hercules and Pegasus.

Please, before ordering you book, read all of the following so that you have all the information that you need! Be especially aware of the need to send me your address, either when you pay for the book via PayPal, or via the email address that you will find below; if I don’t have your postal  address and/or email address, I can’t send you your book!

With that out of the way, here’s the good bit!

Following on from the release of my earlier aircraft titles, I am delighted to be able to announce my first book that deals exclusively with not only 1/72 aircraft, but also ones kitted by Airfix and in the colours of the Royal Air Force! When was the last time a book was released that only dealt with those three subjects?!

‘RAF Radials’ deals with three different aircraft, all powered by these magnificent engines. We have all glamourised Merlin powered machines such as the Spitfire, Mosquito and Lancaster, but perhaps not paid quite as much attention to their unsung partners powered not by that famous powerplant, but ones such as the Hercules and Pegasus. This book goes some way to addressing that imbalance, looking at machines that were radial-powered from the ground up and in the case of the Lancaster, modified when Merlin engines were in short supply. The result is a wonderful collection of classic aircraft that you can study and then hopefully, build for your collection of World War II RAF aircraft.

THE BOOK DEALS WITH THE FOLLOWING AIRCRAFT:

Airfix 1/72 Bristol Beaufighter TF.X

Airfix 1/72 Vickers Wellington Mk.1A

Airfix Avro Lancaster B.Mk.II

Each chapter offers plenty of construction and painting tips, with easy to follow ideas that will help you to build the models, should you chose to be inspired to do so. Though the kits have been built essentially ‘from the box’, there is plenty of additional notes that cover not only construction, but also painting and weathering, the latter a fundamental part of each project. You will find ideas that cover basic paint application, colour notes, decalling tips and then ideas that will help you bring out the best from the detail that has not only been created by Airfix, but in the case of the Beaufighter and Lancaster, some that has been added as well. Much of this is aimed at beginners, but if you are more advanced, there’s plenty for you as well, with weathering ideas that modellers with more experience can enjoy.

Here are some of the pages from this new book to give you an idea of what you can expect from it. As you can see, the book has been printed in landscape format to allow you the reader, the chance to see all of the detail that you can find, without it being lost of the edges of the pages and central gutter lines. I hope that you approve of this change in design!

HOW TO PAY FOR YOUR BOOK….

As with previous titles, this one has been written, designed and printed as a private venture and so the price reflects this. Many of you will already have the other books in your collections so — hopefully — will know what this means in terms of quality and how enjoyable it is to own something that’s rather niche in its approach! Indeed, many of you reading this will have all of the other books, so I am sure that you will be keen to add this one to your growing collection as soon as it goes on sale!

Here, you will find payment links should you wish to purchase a copy of this new book…

UK Orders including postage and packing: £25 – PayPal.Me/DavidP671/25

Europe Orders including postage and packing: £30 – PayPal.Me/DavidP671/30

Rest Of World including postage and packing: £36 – PayPal.Me/DavidP671/36

DETAILS, DETAILS…

When using the Paypal links, PLEASE can you ensure that you leave your full name and postal address so that I can complete my ordering list ready to have the books sent out to you. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE OFTEN PAYPAL DON’T SHOW YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS!

If you need to contact me about anything to do with the book, place an order, or have any other questions, please either leave a message here, or contain me using my email address:

spencerpollard1@gmail.com

AN ADDED BONUS!

The first 100 orders will receive an additional set of prints of each of the 3 featured aircraft. Printed on heavyweight card, they will be a nice addition to the book, allowing you to either collect them along with those found in the subsequent parts, or even frame them and display each one within your workroom or office.

So for now, that’s just about it with the book, all that needs to be done now to complete the proofreading and get everything off to the printers ready for you to enjoy your copy! Thank you all so much for you support with this project and for taking the time to read this update. I hope that you enjoy the book when it arrives and hope that you all have a wonderful day. Thanks so much!

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!

Put me down for one pf these Spencer…..I do not model in 1/72, but painting is painting, in any scale. I do 1/48 and some 1/32 (though I have decided to pass on the new Border Models/ex-WnW Lancaster)…..
