1:48 Airfix Kit Review And Build Royal Navy

AIRFIX SEA FURY TAKES FLIGHT

We've needed a modern kit of the Sea Fury for some time, so was the Airfix kit worth the wait..?

Well, after a pretty late night last night, I think I have an – almost – complete, Airfix 1:48 Sea Fury! As most will know, this is the centrepiece of my new monograph (actually, it’s the only model in it!) so I’m happy to see it complete. I say ‘almost’ because the images have revealed some areas that need to be touched up, nothing major, but needed nonetheless.

Though not a perfect kit, I rather like the finished model, capturing as it does the pugnacious lines of the real thing. I’ve tried to create as busy a surface as I can and despite the rather bland markings, it still looks rather smart I think. Maybe when I build another, I’ll add some colour!

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!
