Hey everyone! Thank you all so much for the views, comments and shares of yesterday’s ‘Natural Metal’ video. It’s really great that you found it enjoyable and useful and that it perhaps offered some ideas that you may use on your models.

Overnight, I’ve had a whole load of questions about the film and what I either did show, or what I didn’t reveal in the video’s 30 minutes. Rather than answer all of the questions individually, I’ve created a 2nd, wrap-up video that seeks to explain further my approach not only this technique, but also NM finished models in general. This is the new video – I hope it answers your questions and thanks for watching!

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!

  1. These videos are great Spencer; really loving them. As per you request for suggestions for future tutorials, I would *love* to see how you do weathering of NMF and Silver finishes. For example, you made a wonderful example of Alley Cat’s Vampire and I’d love to know how you approached the weathering. Thanks, Jon

Great info on the natural metal finish! I’ve been putting off the paint work on a P-38J…now I think I’ll give her a go! Thanks! Dan
