12th March 2025
Holidays are always a time for a little light reading. Though I have a collection of books to work through, I also like to dive into a magazine or two. Favourite amongst the choices on sale in the airport lounge today, was Key Publications’ Aeroplane.

Captivated by the cover of the March issue (you see, cover design is important!) I couldn’t resist handing over a few pounds so that I could read about John Romain, MD of the Aircraft R estoration Company. Though his life, laid out in detail, was a great read, it was the story of their restored Blenheim that captured my imagination and lead me to thoughts of finally building one for my own, miniature collection.

With the 1/48 Airfix kit already squirrelled away, accompanied by all many of Eduard goodies, it is but a matter of time and inclination before I can begin construction and painting. When that time will be is anyone’s guess, but it should be this year, no doubt just in time for Airfix to decide they want to do a Mk.IV, just as I complete the stumpier, though still attractive, Mk.I…

See you tomorrow.

I’d go for the Mk IV, though the Mk I had a career with the Finnish AF which provides some different schemes and markings….. Still waiting for an Airfix Spitfire Mk XIVc highback….. Have it in 1/32, and a very late-war Mk 21 as well, but not in 1/48. Looking forward to see what you tackle next…..
