25th February 2026

Last week I announced that my next book would focus on my 1/24 Spitfire HF.Mk.VIII that I built using the Airfix 1/24 as the base model. With the design work now in progress, that plan has now gained some traction, so I’m happy to offer a little more information on the book and its contents.
Though the 1/24 model with be the centrepiece, I will also include a second model, also of the HF.Mk.VIII, this time though built in 1/48 from the Eduard kit.

Having built a number of models from this stunning family of 1/48 Spitfires, I am delighted to be returning to them once more for a new build for this new book. Unlike its larger brother, the model will not need to be converted nor will it be completed in the colours of an RAF squadron. As a change of pace I have decided to build another Spitfire in American markings, the 308th Fighter Squadron aircraft in its attractive Mediterranean scheme, being a nice counterpoint to the more sombre colours and marking used for the Airfix kit.

The plan is to get this book to a point where I can offer presales around the end of March. As usual, I’ll only be printing a set number of editions so it will be case of first come, first served. You’ll certainly have plenty of time to get your order in, so please keep an eye on this page as well as my other socials, for further information.

Following on from the Spitfire book, the second will focus on the Meteor F.8/FR.9. Not likely to appear before the summer, this one will feature the Airfix 1/72 F.8, their 1/48 F.8 and then Revell’s 1/32 FR.9. Each of the chapters will deal with the builds in detail, covering construction, detailing, painting and weathering.

So that’s my news for today. I hope you all have a wonderful evening and I will see you tomorrow!
