A MODELMAKER’S LIFE: FOOTBALL, PAINTING AND A FORGOTTEN PASSCODE…

A relaxing Sunday before a busy week to come…

15th February 2026

Well, today was planned to be a relatively busy one, but a lie in after a night out, followed by plenty of football on the TV and radio, rather put paid to that!

Being Sunday, I didn’t really need to do any actual work, but thought I would as the weather was poor and neither Liz nor I had any desire to do anything more than relax. So that’s what we did!

Despite my rather sedentary day, I managed to finish all of the Meteor’s internals ready for photography in the morning. That involved little more that a few touch-ups here and there and then the painting of the guns, one set, as the others will be covered over…

And then onto Liz’s iPad…

I bought her one for Christmas, but haven’t had time to fully update it with everything she needs. Today, I thought I’d finish that off and promptly forgot the passcode, so it locked me out. I’m now trying to restore it, which will remove everything back to factory settings. If that doesn’t work, it will have to go to our local Apple Store to be worked on. What an absolute pain!

So a mixed day, that was on the whole, very enjoyable. Now, I wonder if that iPad has fixed itself?

See you tomorrow.

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!

My condolences on your battle with Apple – the Bride has been having quite a go with her new iPhone 17, bringing back nostalgic memories of the tin cans and string we used as kids….. That Meteor kit looks really quite good – gives me hope that a forthcoming Spitfire Mk XIV high-back would be smashing, if Airfix ever decided to do one…..
