30th January 2026
Man, has this month gone quick! Feels like only five minutes since Christmas and yet here we are on the cusp of January rolling into February. Though still cold and miserable we are starting to see the first evidence of Spring being around the corner with snowdrops and a few minutes of additional light each afternoon pointing us in the right direction.
Despite my week being yet another period of flu-like symptoms and this never-ending cough, I’ve managed to finish my written work for the month and then make a start on the Revell Meteor.

Today, I spent a few hours when not coughing my lungs up, working on the sub-assemblies. There are a lot of parts in the kit, all of which were supplied to me in a large plastic bag. With no box to store them in I was keen to cut down the number of sprues I need to house, so I’ve built many of the larger assemblies, as well as bits and pieces that are formed from separate halves. It’s all been rather simple easy and relaxing, the astonishing quality of the kit and its fit, making assembly anything but taxing. My bin is now filled with empty sprues and my desk cluttered with a partly assembled Meteor!

I also spent time looking at the need for additional detail. The cockpit is obviously the first port of call here, so I examined it to see if anything could be added. The answer is likely to be no. The new ASK seat that I’ve ordered will completely covering any additional bits and pieces I could add – to embellish the already superb parts in the kit – so the work would be rather wasted. I may change my mind, but as it stands I’m more likely to leave things be and focus instead on careful painting and decalling.
With the weekend upon us I’m not likely to find much time to do anything more of note, time with Liz and the upcoming football, taking my attention away from all things miniature. I may still get some time at the bench and if I do I’ll let you know about it in due course, but that’s definitely not a priority! It’s all about the football!
In the meantime have a lovely evening and I’ll see you tomorrow.
