A MODELMAKER’S LIFE: SNOW DAY AND FAMILY…

A relaxing Saturday - just as the doctor ordered!

3rd January 2026

With the temperatures around the UK plummeting over the last few days it was not a surprise to see a light dusting of snow on the ground this morning.

As exciting as that was (I love the snow!) it was more pleasing to see my son who came to visit this morning. As I don’t see him that often it’s always lovely when we get together even if it is only for a couple of hours! As Isaac was over, my step son and his family also dropped in for a catch-up and a coffee, the kids helping Liz out with her jigsaw puzzle whilst we all chatted away.

With the sun now going down, I’m looking forward to watching a little football and perhaps the darts final later on, a nice end to what has been a very pleasant if cold, day.

See you tomorrow.

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!
