10th December 2025

A slightly different few days ahead as we are house or rather dog sitting for my brother and sister in law. This gives me the chance to have a dog for a few days, without the responsibility of actually having a dog! Think grandparents and you are pretty close – all the fun, none of the headaches!
Though I’ve brought my laptop over to do some writing whilst I’m here, I started the day off with a very pleasant walk in the words with his majesty, grabbing some much-needed peace and quiet, as well as a very tasty hot chocolate.
I like these walks. The chance to leave the studio for a few hours is always welcome, and though the usual cleaning up after the pooch’s ablutions is not the most pleasant experience in the world, it’s something I enjoy greatly.

This morning was no different.
After some biblical rain yesterday, the weather played ball, with blue skies and sunshine making a welcome return. Cold it might have been to begin with, cold it was not at the end of the walk as the ridiculous number of clothes I decided to wear, played their part in reminding me of the sweaty days of the summer! Tomorrow, I may leave the coat at home!

One of the unexpected treats of the walk were the number of trees adorned with decorations by local clubs, nurseries and schools. All seemingly part of a dedicated trail through the woods, each was a delightful reminder that Christmas is only just around the corner, and that I have yet to deal with presents that I should by now have bought!
See you tomorrow.
