15th October 2025
Well, after what seems like months of planning and work, I’m all ready to travel to Eindhoven for this year’s SMC.
My good friend Haris Ali and I first talked about this in April, sorting out the ferry and accommodation shortly after. That seems like five minutes ago to be honest, the intervening six months having flown by in a blur. Plans for highly involved builds had to be consigned to the wayside as other priorities took precedent and though I have new work to take, other ideas will have to wait until next year, such was the speed with which the year seemed to pass me by.
It’s been a long time since of been to one of these major international events. Euro Militaire 2012 might be the last one, so I’ve not been in the company of my continental friends for some time, something I’m very much looking forward to rectifying this weekend. It will also be good to see some amazing models and hopefully draw in some much-needed inspiration to get me through the winter.
We travel tomorrow afternoon, catching the ferry from Harwich to the Hook Of Holland on an overnight crossing. Nerves are jangling a little as this will be my first ferry crossing in my own car, so it’s all a little bit of a learning curve. I also don’t have the greatest sea legs in the world, so there’s that as well! All being well, we should be at the venue before lunchtime Friday, giving us plenty of time to relax and prepare for the show. We may even have time to visit Arnhem a we’ll see.
All being well I’ll still be able to update this page each day, though I’m sure it will be more photo-based than something you can read. Who knows, I may be able to show you some of the models from the event, which I’m positive you will enjoy seeing on here, as much as I will in the flesh.
See you tomorrow.

pretty sure you will love SMC, I have only been once but have planned several other visits but real life keeps getting in the way ……. COVID, 2 house moves , etc, etc .
Be interested in your comparison views with SMC and IPMS shows , personally after SMC I would never revisit the Telford show but that might just be me
