A MODELMAKER’S LIFE: BREAKFAST, CATCH-UPS AND COMPLETED MODELS…

Almost there with my Harrier restoration…

8th October 2025

Started the day off catching up with a mate over breakfast. He popped around this morning for a bacon sandwich, coffee and a chat before going off on his way. It was definitely a lovely way to start the day, even if I was a bit full as the morning wore on!

The rest of the day has seen me almost complete the restoration of my Harrier, pictures of which I’ll post tomorrow. I’m not only glad that this is now done, I’m pleased that it actually looks better than it did when first completed almost a decade ago. The finish is neater, details crisper thanks to some repainting, and the weathering a little more involved. Overall, though I didn’t really want to carry out the work, I think it was worth it now that it is done and sat on my desk.

I’m not sure that I’ll be doing too much on it in the morning as I’m going to have a hair cut and then Liz wants me to pop out and do some shopping. Hopefully I’ll have some time in the afternoon to complete what I need to do. Here’s hoping!

See you tomorrow.

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!
