Though I really don’t like to collaborate when it comes to my models, it is great to call on friends who have more technical knowledge than I have once in a while.
Despite the thought of asking anyone for their opinions on a build mid project fills me with horror (unless it’s Liz who I often use as a second pair of eyes, or Jon and Drewe who I regularly use for thoughts on colours and markings) I sometimes stretch out a little in the direction of modellers whose opinions and knowledge I respect.
That exact thing happened this morning. I called up Craig Sergeant midway through planning for a new build. I messaged him with questions and then filled the next hour or so with image swaps, thoughts on progress and links to resources that I hadn’t seen. My original plans shifted mid conversation, my first choice being swapped to a similar but more involved machine. It really was an enjoyable moment in time that has now pushed my plans from sketchy, to concrete. So much so, that much of the conversion work that I knew would need to be done, now is, allowing me to focus on details rather than the nitty gritty of the design.
I’d like to thank Craig for his time and help that he offered this morning. I’m sure it won’t be the last time that I contact him regarding this new model. The last time I collaborated with friends on a build was the 1/24 Harrier T2 that I completed 10 years ago, and we all know how that turned out. Let’s hope this one is just as pleasing, as the plans set in stone today, result in a model later this year.
See you tomorrow.

Always a pleasure to chat and look forward to seeing this as it progresses. Great subject choice too.
