Seeing a book come back after all the hard work is always a thrill, this one being perhaps more so given my unusual approach to both the model and the creation of the book in which I discuss it.
6th August 2025
Despite still fighting off this head cold that is having me shift from being relatively cool to overwhelmingly hot in the blink of an eye, today has been a mixed bag of activities, some modelling, some with my lovely wife, Liz.

First things first. The new Jaguar book is back from the printers, so I can begin to pack it up and send out those copies that have been ordered. Seeing a book come back after all the hard work is always a thrill, this one being perhaps more so given my unusual approach to both the model and the creation of the book in which I discuss it. So you can imagine how excited I am that finally readers will be able to dive in and experience my journey from opening the Jaguar’s box, to having a completed model in my display case.
As for orders, all who have paid for a copy are confirmed and will receive their books in due course. I also printed a handful more, but won’t know how many are spare until everything is packed up. I know there will be some, so if you are keen to be placed on a reserve list, please email at the following address and let me know:

Away from work, Liz and I spent a very pleasant hour or so early today having afternoon tea. Gifted to us, we took a short trip over to Haughton Hall Hotel of cake, sandwiches, tea and some very pleasant time chatting away. I always love spending tome with Liz and this afternoon was no different!

A few more days on my new project and then I’m back to work on Tamiya’s M36 Jackson for Marcus and TMMI. With so many aircraft completed this year, it will be fun to return to some armour for a change. Who knows, I may even build a small vignette around it, time permitting…
Now if this cold could get lost, I could regain some energy and much-needed focus, something that has been in very short supply over much of this week.
See you tomorrow.

I’ll agree, getting a publication back from the printers is always a thrill. A culmination of a lot of work, blood sweat and tears. I was involved in the States with a British car restoration supply company for a number of years, we published parts catalogs, and shipped internationally, though it seems never to England, just the occasional big Healy or TR6.

Postie handed me my copy this morning.
Quality of the new Jaguar book is off the charts, in particular the layout and content; and Spencer’s writing is style, is as ever, really enjoyable. The photographs are sharp, bright, and large. The steps in building the project are laid out clearly and I think easy to follow for modelers with different levels of experience. A really interesting read with much to inspire in building this fine kit.
This book is terrific!
