With much of my work done for this week (at least until tomorrow when I start again!) we had a day off to meet friends and enjoy some time in the countryside.

Having already visited one of the Cheshire canal sites near to us, today we took a look at a Willeymoor Lock Tavern on the Llangollen canal. Not far from our home, this proved to be a perfect spot to meet our friends, if not a little hot and very humid! It was, yet again a lovely destination that combined perfect a perfect location with easy travel and some lovely food and drink.
Walking along the canal was most agreeable, as was the lunch that we shared. The only downside I could see were the damned horseflies that seemed particularly keen to say hello. Prevalent at the time of year they were no doubt attracted to the water and thus any walkers keen to take in the scenery and disturb their peace. Yuk!

I’m now writing this before going out to watch England play in the final of the U21 Euro Championships. Fingers crossed that the boys have a great evening, especially Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, who’ll be keep a particularly close eye on! Come on England: you can do it!
See you tomorrow.
