A MODELMAKER’S LIFE: A RELAXING LUNCH IN THE SUN…

I return to work in the morning, but first, lunch with my granddaughter…

18th May 2025

With my thoughts returning to the commission I’m working on at the moment (more of which tomorrow) it was good to have a final period of relaxation before retuning to work in the morning.

Much of that involved a lovely lunch with my Liz, my son, his partner and my wonderful granddaughter. Making the most once more of the sunshine, we ate al fresco, enjoying conversation and the kind of fresh summer food I so enjoy.

So tomorrow, it’s all hands to the pump. The commission will have its back broken over the next few days, the 3D printed parts that I designed and Drewe printed, now sitting on my desk, ready to be integrated into a scratchbuilt facade. There are still plenty of steps ahead figurative and literal before the model will be finished but truth be told, I’m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together!

See you tomorrow.

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!
