With the announcement today that Kotare are going to be following up their 1/32 Spitfires and Me109K with a Mk.I Hurricane, I am once again reminded of my love affair with this aircraft and my oft-repeated feeling that it is far more interesting, not to mention better looking, than its Supermarine partner.

Despite my affection for the Hurricane, I have of course (because I’m nothing if not awkward) built way more Spitfires over the years than Hawker’s masterpiece. That’s not to say it’s been ignored, two having passed over my bench in the last few years (first from Airfix and then, memorably from ARMA HOBBY) but they have been in the minority, build-wise.

The announcement that Kotare are to release a new 1/32 kit has of course been greeted around the world with much enthusiasm, unsurprising given their work on previous kits from this range and Wingnut Wings’ collection of First World War kits.
Other than the prerelease information that they have dropped via their Book Of Faces account, I have little more information, including a release date. Despite that, I’m already feeling that tingle of excitement that tends to precede a kit that I really want to build, so look forward to its final release and hoped passage across my workbench. Who knows, by then I may have finally built the 1/24 Airfix kit to complete a collection of sorts, which, let’s face it, would be something of a minor miracle.

So a new 1/32 Hurricane to set the heart racing. I’d say that’s a good start to the week and something to very much look forward to. Who says it’s nothing but bad news these days?
See you tomorrow.

I may have to add one or three to my collection!

Made my day, although this year my poor credit card is going to a bit battered, what with Sea Fury, Griffon Spitfire, DH Hornet, maybe Avro 504, and now a BoB Hurricane, all in 1:32!! Fablus!!

Got to agree with you Spencer. Love the Hurricane. Yes the Spirfires were graceful to look at, and they still are, the later Griffon engined versions were superb. My favourite being the Mk IVc with its high back by retaining the Malcolme hood. It looked fast standing still. But to me the Hurricane had more of the prize fighter look about it. When armed with the four canon of the later Mk2 version it really was a fighter to be reckoned with.
