1:48 Airfix Eduard Fleet Air Arm Kit Review And Build Model Airplane International Royal Navy Showcase Superdetailing

AIRFIX DE HAVILLAND CHIPMUNK

As a change of pace, I've completed this delightful little training aircraft and then had fun replicating a bright and unweathered, modern colour scheme.

Afternoon everyone – I hope that you are well!

Here’s my latest completion, the delightful Airfix 1/48 De Havilland Chipmunk.

Unlike my recent Tamiya KV-2, this one was built using a number of additional Eduard sets that helped to detail the cockpit, replace the cowling panels and mask the canopy – the ‘Big Ed’ set that I used being found here if you would like to see what it contains.

The colour scheme is one from the kit, as obviously are the decals! I hope you like it!

This model will be appearing as part of a full build feature in Model Airplane International, so if you would like to see how it went together with plenty of additional images, you’ll be able to do so, next month!

I'm formerly the editor in charge of Military In Scale magazine and latterly, Model Airplane International. Editing duties to one side, I'm now a full-time modelmaker with Doolittle Media, working to supply modelling articles and material for a number of their group titles, including MAI and Tamiya Model Magazine International. I'm also an avid fan of Assassin's creed, Coventry City FC and when the mood takes me, a drummer of only passing skill. Here though, you'll find what I do best: build models and occassionally, write about them!

  2. Whoa! Thanks for the inspiration, Spencer. I have this here, with the Eduard sets. And in about two weeks I will deliver the latest book and have six weeks to myself. This kit has just jumped to the top of the pile.

    Really. Nice. Work.
